The main objective of We The People is to promote civic competence and responsibility by enhancing the understanding of American constitutional democracy by exploring, in depth, the contemporary relevance of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Through critical thinking activities, simulation, and cooperative learning strategies, students will develop academic and participatory skills whole learning about the structures and functions of the US Government. The culminating activity for this Honors course is to participate in a simulated congressional hearing in which students make a presentation before a panel of judges. Students will demonstrate their knowledge of the Constitution and apply constitutional principles to relevant issues.
