Forensics 1 & 2 CP (Speech & Debate)

Forensics 1P is an introductory course in speech and debate. Students will receive instruction in debate theory and practice, including both value debate and policy debate. Forensics students will also be introduced to individual speech events, including Original Oratory, Expository Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, Dramatic and Humorous Interpretation, Thematic Interpretation, Impromptu, and Original Prose and Poetry. Students must compete in interscholastic speech and debate contests. Emphasis is placed on the development of integrated interdisciplinary skills, including reading, critical thinking, logical analysis, research, writing, and communication. A strong facility with language and consistent practice are essential for success in this course.
